Bijou Market Pics

This past week has been an extra busy one, which is why I'm just now posting pictures from the Bijou Market.  The show was amazing!  I was so happy with the turnout and just loved meeting some of the other vendors.  Thank you to all of you who purchased my prints, and also to the lovely ladies who ran the show.  Here are a couple snapshots of my table as well as some of my favorite displays (sorry about the quality, poor lighting.)

Nursery Finds

A few things that caught my eye this week while browsing design blogs....

DwellStudio's new collection of mobiles:

This darling Skip Hop Flower Burst bedding which will be in stores later this year:

And these awesome wall panels by Twelve Timbers.  How great would one of these look behind a crib in a nursery?

Custom Birth Poster

I have been kicking around the idea of offering a custom birth poster for awhile now.  I attempted a few different designs, but never quite loved the finished product.  I just finished this design today and think it turned out just right.

Shown in 'lemon', but offered in an assortment of custom colors in my shop.

Loving Fall

Oh how I love the fall.  I never knew I loved it until we didn't have it for three years while living in Hawaii.  Now I find myself staring at the pretty colors of the changing leaves, and loving the chill in the air because it means I can throw on a cozy sweater.   We did a hayride to a cute little pumpkin patch and picked out a daddy, mommy and a baby pumpkin.  It was so much fun, and may top my list as one of my favorite fall activities.

Share the Love

Let me introduce you to Emily of Anderson Family Crew.  Her family is in the process of adopting a little girl named Elsa from Ethiopia.  International adoption is expensive, and they are lacking the funds needed to finalize the adoption and bring her home.  Her friend Amy had a wonderful idea to do a fundraiser by raffling donated handmade items on Emily's blog.  When I was first contacted to be a part of this special project I knew I wanted to help.

Visit Emily's blog where you can enter to win any of the five awesome bundles of goodies which include two of my prints.
Check out the details here.
What a great cause.  Best wishes to the Anderson family!

Etsy Love: Halloween Costumes

The question on my mind as October approaches:  Lily's Halloween costume, to make or to buy?
After seeing these creative costumes on Etsy, I might be leaning towards buy.

Simplifying Your Closet

I love love love organizing and de-cluttering.  I think it's fun to clean out old items to make room for the new.  I am not the type of person who gets attached to things like clothes or shoes, so when I feel like it's time to get rid of something, I toss it in a bag for goodwill and move on.  And I enjoy it, too.  I came upon this list at Young House Love and think it's a good rule of thumb to keep in mind when organizing your closet.  I definitely need to work on a few of these:

  • If you’re unsure about a big ticket item, put it on hold for 24 hours and think it over.
  • Don’t buy anything that doesn’t flatter you or isn’t comfortable, no matter how of-the-moment it is.
  • If you have to talk yourself into a purchase in the dressing room, pass on it.
  • If there’s nothing in your closet to wear with it, skip it.
  • Never purchase something just because it looks good on someone else.
  • Don’t save a pair of jeans for that anticipated five-pound weight loss. Owning them is bad for your psyche. If the time comes when you drop a size, chances are you won’t hesitate to run out and buy a new pair.
  • If a stain didn’t come out at the cleaners or when you toiled over it in the sink it’s permanent. Time to let it go.
  • Don't buy anything on sale that you wouldn't consider at full price.
  • If we kept every item of clothing with a memory attached, we’d be buried in clothes.
  • Ask yourself if each item of clothing in your closet: 1) flatters your shape, 2) fits perfectly or is fixable, 3) is the right color for you, 4) has been worn in the last two years – only things that get four yesses should stay.

Happy Birthday to my sweet Lily!  I love this girl more than I can say.  She has the sweetest, funniest little personality and she makes me laugh every day.  I am so lucky to be her mom.  I love you, Lily!
